TATAs of yore
2 What advances a nation or a community is not so much to prop up its weakest and most helpless
members, bu to lift up the best and the most gifted, so as to make them of the greatest service to the
country.

Brhaamma Muhurtam
1 Brhaamma Muhurtam

It’s that time in the early morning after 4 a.m.
· Unlike it’s widely believed, it has nothing to do with Hindu deity Brhama.
· The word Brhamma means to be growing, developing, abounding….
· It’s the apt time to begin the day….not to sleep at this hour. – brhaamme muhurta uthishteth – as Ayurveda and Dharmasastra advise. If, in this hour after our morning ablution, we spend our time in productive and legitimate chores, like students studying, singers practicing, their grasp level is much faster and they do more in less time. Also, your health is in tact.
· If we sleep in this hour, we lose precious part of our life, so says the Dharmasastra.
· Watch the birds and animals beginning their day in this hour. It is in more alignment with nature to do so.
· If one practices the habit of beginning one’s day at Brhaamma Muhurtam, his health would be such that one does not, at the maximum, need to visit his health consultants.
- This is my humble attempt to translate the above elucidation on Brhaamma Muhurtam of Shri Seshadrinatha Sastrigal in Sakthi Vikatan, 03.05.2011 edition, pages 84,85
